terms of characters in target language, while those in
source language may also be called upon as required by our
clients. Characters only serve as a regular factor in
estimating the translation cost; also taken into
consideration will be the specialty, sophistication,
difficulty and deadline requirements relating to the file.
The principle of charging in terms of characters applies to

Q: Which formats of
source files are acceptable for translation? And which
fields are acceptable for translation?
A: Basically, all
formats of MS Windows/Mac operation system application
software files used for office work, word processing and
graphical making are acceptable for translation. Even for
rarely used application software, we will do the utmost to
meet your demand.
Q: How about
confidentiality?
A: DOWEN will take
seriously the question of confidentiality. All employees
with DOWEN have signed a confidentiality agreement and only
the concerned staff is entitled to access the very file. All
the files of a client will be classified and encrypted
before being processed and the staff uninvolved in the very
project cannot open the file. In addition, we will sign a
confidentiality agreement with our client if necessary.
Q: Is there proofreading
for translated files?
A: Positive. We do the
following proofreading jobs:
Stylistic proofreading: designing the style of and
grammatically editing the translated files, including those
in uncommonly or rarely used languages.
Semantic proofreading: involving editing of special
terminology, to be completed by relevant experts.
